Jorge Vargas, CFO

Mr. Vargas has over 44 years of accounting experience. He joined Sun Holdings, Inc. in March 2013 as Accounting Manager of Burger King and was promoted to Controller after a couple of months due to his vast experience.

Throughout his time at Sun Holdings he restructured the Accounting Department to be more efficient and accurate. Mr. Vargas is always looking for improvement opportunities in the accounting area to decrease human error by automating the accounting processes. 

After performing an excellent job as Controller, he was promoted to CFO of the Company and its affiliated entities. In that role he exercises overall responsibility for all financial and accounting needs for over 650 restaurants and retails stores, reporting directly to the President of Sun Holdings, Inc.

Prior to his work at Sun Holdings, Mr. Vargas was Director of Credit and Collections for Mission Foods located in Dallas, Texas for 12 years and managed a receivable of over $100M with more than 1,000 credit customers, keeping a DSO of less than 32 days and reducing the head count from 42 to 16 employees by automating the cash application and collection processes.

Prior to his work at Mission Foods, Mr. Vargas was the Accounting Manager of Thermal Engineering located in Los Angeles, California, and was responsible of all accounting duties, such as reporting to the Director of Accounting, and providing all information for the annual PWC audit.

Prior to his work at Thermal Engineering, from 1981 to 1986 Mr. Vargas worked in Los Angeles, California in the accounting and finance area with several grocery and wholesaler distributors of Mexican products.  He built his accounting experience working with Insurance Companies in Mexico from 1969 to 1981.
